More about where i-go-eco come from
Roelf Nicolaas du Toit, founder and owner of i-go-eco.
For Roelf, plants are more than just greenery, they’re memories, traditions, and a lifelong passion. Growing up in Johannesburg, he watched his grandfather tend to his garden and his parents transform their outdoor space every weekend. In his family, a beautiful garden wasn’t a luxury, it was a must! His mom always said, “No matter what, your garden should always look good and it shouldn’t have to cost a fortune.”
That philosophy stuck with him, but it took a global pandemic to turn passion into purpose. What started as selling terrariums at a local market led to a lightbulb moment with Lucky Bamboo, a plant symbolizing resilience and prosperity. That’s when Roelf knew: plants weren’t just a hobby, they were his future.
Leaving a stable job in the middle of a crisis seemed crazy, but Roelf saw an opportunity. i-go-eco was born not just as a plant shop but as a way to make quality greenery affordable, accessible, and sustainable for all. Everyday plants for everyday people.
Today, i-go-eco delivers plants across South Africa, recycles water, reuses packaging, and makes gardening easy and joyful for everyone. Because when you bring plants into your space, you’re not just decorating, you’re cultivating happiness.
