A big, tough Spekboom for your garden
Portulacaria afra · also known as Spekboom, dwarf jade, elephant bush, porkbush
Native to Eastern South Africa, from the Eastern Cape northwards
Spekboom is an indigenous South African succulent shrub, often called dwarf jade, but it is a different plant from the jade money plant (Crassula ovata). It has small, round leaves on reddish-brown stems.
- A large Spekboom in a 17cm grow pot, ready to make an impact in a sunny garden bed or big container.
- Indigenous and very drought tolerant: water only once the soil has dried out completely.
- Happy in full sun or semi-shade, and takes well to pruning into a hedge or bonsai shape.
